Wall of Armor
Understanding Your Wall of Armor
Overtime we each build a unique wall of armor as a shield of protection.
We create this layer of defense, not necessarily on purpose, but because we become hardened by our life experiences. We teach ourselves not to be vulnerable. We believe that this guard makes us stronger, more resilient. However, with each layer that we cement, we become more detached and avoidant.
We work so hard to avoid experiences that test our wall of armor, but know that the moments in which you feel most vulnerable or uncomfortable prove to provide the greatest reward. These are the moments in which we grow, achieve, and most importantly learn.
Could you imagine a world led by vulnerability? What if instead of getting bottled up, we opened up completely and let ourselves be incredibly human. What if instead of asking for permission, we demanded it. If we turned to one another lovingly and created a safe space to fully express ourselves, we’d find the world to be a bit more kind.
Can you use your breath to create space in the body and therefore in the mind. Notice where you might be holding onto physical tightness and resistance, then use your breath to soften and release.
